The following are true of the base ten system:

  • It is a number system based on repeated groupings of 10.

  • The value of a digit, 0-9, is based on its position or place in the base ten system.

  • It is a number system in which each digit has 10 times the value of the same digit one place to its right.

  • It is a number system in which each digit has one-tenth of the value of the same digit one place to its left.

  • It is also known as the decimal number system.
