Transversal

My Definition

Key Characteristics

The following are true of the transversal:

- The lines cut/intersected by a transversal are coplanar with the transversal.
- The lines cut/intersected by a transversal do not need to be parallel.
- When a transversal cuts/intersects parallel lines, the corresponding angles around each intersection are equal in measure.

Example

Non-example

There is no transversal in the figure, since a transversal must cut/intersect through two or more coplanar lines or segments.
