This section of our online course will introduce the role of financial planning in the practice of corporate finance. It is the final section of the Money Flow lesson.

By the time you are finished with Part 6, you should understand the following:

• The role of financial planning in the overall mission of the business

• The firm's mission statement and long-run strategic plan

• The financial planning process as a part of the firm's strategic plan

• The short-run financial plan

• The sales forecast as based on historical, internal, and external data

• Forecasting funds needs using the Additional Funds Needed formula

• Forecasting funds needs using the Percent-of-Sales method and pro forma financial statements

• Compiling and evaluating of the monthly cash budget

• Dealing with monthly cash surpluses and deficits using the cash budget

• Dealing with uncertainty in monthly cash planning
