This resource is about modeling situations using quadratic functions. You will learn how to determine whether or not a quadratic model is appropriate in a given situation. Once you have identified a data set as being quadratic, you will learn how to formulate a quadratic function that will model the given data.

There are several ways to formulate a quadratic model to fit data. We will examine two methods in this resource:

• Method 1: Find a model using your knowledge of the quadratic parent function, y = x², and transformations on that function.
• Method 2: Find a model by using regression analysis and graphing technology.
