There are exceptions to the principles that Mendel proposed. Patterns of inheritance that do not follow Mendel’s principles are called non-Mendelian inheritance. Examples of non-Mendelian inheritance include incomplete dominance, codominance, polygenic traits, multiple alleles, and sex-linked traits.
