After World War II, a defeated Germany was divided by the victorious powers of the United States, the Soviet Union, Great Britain, and France into four occupation zones. Deep within the Soviet zone – the eastern part of Germany – was Berlin, a capital city all but leveled by aerial bombing from American and British bombers and the final terrible battle of the war between Russian and German forces during World War II.

Below is a map of Germany's divisions with four flags. In the box, there are the names of the four allied countries.

Interactive exercise. Assistance may be required.Drag the correct country name into the zone that that particular allied country now controls. (Use the flags to help you.)
